DEE WILSON CONSULTING
Training:
Decision to Place (Half or full day)
This training begins with information regarding CPS placement practices:

-
characteristics of children placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect
-
describes the pro's and con's of foster care, and
-
outlines criteria for involuntary placements.
The training includes a lengthy exercise in which participants work in small groups to respond to common child protection scenarios, and then compares the various groups' recommendations. The half-day training includes a discussion of in-home safety planning and presents a typology of physical abuse developed by Carole Bowdry.
The full-day training employs a small group exercise to develop alternatives to out of home placement in response to a case scenario. The full day training ends with a discussion of guidelines for Moving Children from Home to Home.
