Training:

Ethics in Child Welfare (Half day)

This training was developed for child welfare supervisors. The training includes a discussion of definitions of ethics, proposes an ethic of public service for governmental employees, and engages participants in consideration of why abuses of power are endemic in any organizational setting.  The training also includes a concrete discussion of "Thou Shall Not Do ..." in child welfare settings.

The training includes a small group exercise in which participants discuss common ethical conflicts in child welfare, and compares their recommendations regarding proposed solutions to these conflicts. One of these common conflicts is the organizational directive to engage in actions that may be ethically questionable or in conflict with an individual's ethical beliefs.
